Whether you have a new puppy or getting ready to bring one home, there a few major milestones that every puppy hits throughout their first year and now you can have a professional pet photographer capture their first year through photos!

When is a good time to get puppies photographed?
Puppies are fun to work with because their world is fresh and new. They are curious and engaged in life. Of course, all that energy can make photographing them a handful especially if you are trying to work with several pups at the same time but that's where I can help take amazing images of your puppies.
I don't often work with puppies less than three weeks of age. Before that age, they are too young to focus on noise or moving objects and, of course, their immune systems are not yet developed.
Good cleaning routine is important when it comes to handling and photographing puppies. I recommend washing arms and hands with germ-killing soap. I also take extra measures by disinfect all toys and noisemakers that are being brought along for the photo shoot. These precautions may seem a lot but many of the deadly diseases that can kill a puppy are airborne viruses that can be innocently brought into your home by others.
How is the studio prepared for puppies?
Preparing the studio for a puppy photo shoot is so important due to their immune system being new/week. The last thing any new puppy owner or dog breeder wants to hear is a diagnosis of parvo. Parvo in puppies is unfortunately a common disease with deadly consequences, which is why it is important for anyone dealing with puppies on a regular basis to be aware of and to help prevent. This virus is highly contagious and spreads through direct contact with an infected dog or by indirect contact with a contaminated object.
The studio, backdrops and props are all cleaned with vetinarian grade disinfectant before the puppy arrives at the studio. Furniture that is often used for bigger dogs is placed behind a dog gate, to add an extra barrier of protection for young puppies. Once a puppy photo shoot is over everything is cleaned again, such as, washing backdrops, cleaning with veterinarian grade disinfectant on props and furniture, even mopping the floor. Cleaning before and after every photo shoot may seem like a lot but your puppy safety is the top priority.
